Knee Pain

Medial knee pain, worsened by activities including rising from a seated position, using the stairs, or sitting with legs crossed can be suggestive of Pes Anserine Bursitis. The patient may endorse trauma to the knee, OA, or sport activities. PAB coexisting with MCL injury is not uncommon.

The presenting complaints are not specific and usually include anterior knee pain, snapping sensation along the medial patella with flexion, clicking, tenderness along the peripatellar region, swelling, mechanical symptoms, and decreased range of motion.

Pain is often localized to behind or around the patella and made worse by loading a flexed knee. Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome often worsens with prolonged sitting or descending stairs.
